Oatmeal with Blueberries

Quick and comforting.
  • 1/3 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • small pinch cinnamon
  • chopped walnuts, flaxseeds, chia seeds (optional)

Boil water. Add oats; also add blueberries if they are frozen.  Cook for 5 minutes over medium heat, adding more water if necessary.  Remove from stovetop and add fresh blueberries, cinnamon and nuts/seeds if desired.

Note: I love adding chia seeds because they really thicken up the oatmeal.  If you add chia seeds, use extra water so that your oatmeal isn't too thick.
