Frozen Chocolate Bon-bons
Featuring antioxidant-rich dark chocolate and potassium-rich bananas, these treats are healthy AND decadent. Best of all, they take about 15 minutes to make. My kids and I love how much they taste like banana ice cream.
Melt chocolate bars (or chips) in pan over the lowest heat. Meanwhile, lay parchment paper over a jellyroll pan then slice bananas into desired sizes (I like my slices about 1 to 1 1/2" long). When chocolate bars have just melted, remove pan from heat. Roll banana segments in melted chocolate to cover completely then place them on the parchment-lined pan. If desired, sprinkle with coconut or peanuts. Place in freezer. Allow to sit at room temperature 5 minutes before serving.
Variations: For popsicles, cut bananas in half, insert popsicle stick into one end, roll in melted chocolate, sprinkle with desired toppings, then freeze. Other fruit works well, too. I like to roll frozen blueberries in any leftover melted chocolate - delicious!
- 2 (3.5 oz. each) good quality dark chocolate bars or chips (I use 70% cocoa)
- 5 - 6 ripe bananas (very ripe bananas will work but will be harder to handle)
- Optional: unsweetened shredded coconut, chopped nuts
